Our Mission
Neighborhood Cats Network Mission Statement
Our mission is to compassionately improve the lives of community cats by providing nourishment, housing, TNVR care, and a pathway to a better future. By offering sustenance and spaying/neutering initiatives, we foster a healthier, happier environment for both cats and humans alike. With our innovative approach, we create insulated cat houses and shelters that protect cats during Western New York’s harsh winters. Through our Journey to Forever Adoption Program, we also rescue and adopt friendly cats and kittens into loving homes, ensuring they receive lifelong care and companionship. Our commitment extends beyond rescue; through education, we strive to build a community that values and protects the well-being of all its inhabitants, promoting empathy and understanding for a more compassionate world.
Adoption Policy
Neighborhood Cats Network places a strong emphasis on responsible, well-matched adoptions. All prospective adopters begin by completing our online adoption application at NeighborhoodCatsNetwork.org. Each application is carefully reviewed by our Adoption Screening Committee, which consists of two board members and our adoption coordinator. All three must unanimously approve every adoption to ensure the best outcome for both the cat or kitten and the adopter.
We partner with Pet Supplies Plus locations in Monroe and Ontario Counties, where potential adopters can meet and interact with our kittens in a welcoming, stress-reduced environment. For the wellbeing of the cats and to allow thoughtful decision-making, no kittens are adopted out on the same day.
Once an application is approved, most cats and kittens are personally delivered to their new homes by one of our dedicated volunteers or our adoption coordinator. Each adopter receives a comprehensive welcome folder containing the cat’s or kitten’s detailed medical record, emergency contact numbers, our Kitten Care 101 guide, the Neighborhood Cats Network newsletter, and a personalized welcome letter.
This careful, step-by-step process helps us ensure that every cat or kitten is placed in a loving, permanent home and that new families have the resources they need for a successful start together.
