Our Mission

Sherman Ridge Sanctuary began like so many accidental adventures – take a single rescued baby chick, apply “chicken math”, and before you know it, you have a full-fledged rescue operation on your hands!

Nestled just below gorgeous High Point State Park, our sanctuary is located on 3+ wooded acres and is home to over 150 rescued poultry birds (both roosters and hens, and made up of both common and rare breeds), rabbits and other domestic birds. Most of these birds and rabbits were brought to us either abandoned or neglected, often injured and in need of emergent medical care.

We’ve built out the property with barns and other structures to ensure that we have sufficient housing to meet our current rescue needs, though the more we grow, the more we’re needed in the community as more and more animals arrive at our doorstep!

Adoption Policy

-you must complete an adoption application
-We educate adopters on appropriate animal care
-We look at their housing
-We ask for references from their vet to make sure they have an appropriate exotics vet if it is for a rabbit
-all rabbits adopted must be housed inside in an appropriate space with plenty of excercise
-they must be fed unlimited timothy hay
-have regular vet checks
-be kept up to date on RHVD vaccination
- if you are no longer able to care for your rabbit they must be surrendered back to our care
