Our Mission
It is the mission of the Alexander County Animal Services to protect public health and welfare while enforcing humane animal treatment while operating within county, state and federal regulations and laws. It is also our mission to provide safe, humane shelter for unwanted, stray, abused and impounded animals and to educate the public about responsible animal care, pet ownership and living with wildlife in hopes of reducing the number of unwanted animals in the community.
Adoption Policy
There are so many innocent and unwanted animals that need a good loving home.Â
The adoption fee for our dogs and puppies is $75.00. This includes the cost of the spay or neuter, the first rabies vaccination, and the first distemper/parvo vaccination.
The adoption fee for our cats and kittens is $75.00. This includes the cost of the spay or neuter, the first rabies vaccination, and the first distemper/upper respiratory combo vaccination.
Occassionally, we have other pets for adoption as well, such as hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens, ferrets, etc. Please check for availability of these animals.
All cats and dogs are spayed or neutered --NO EXCEPTIONS!!
Our shelter is located one half mile out of Taylorsville just off of Highway 16 North. The shelter hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm
