BeWild
Our Mission
BeWild is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that acts a rescue for displaced exotic pets, primarily reptiles. We also provide affordable animal education using our team of animal ambassadors.
Our rescues are kept in quarantine for a minimum of 30 days. Animals that present with health issues will be kept in quarantine until they have recovered. This is both to insure our permanent ambassadors aren't exposed to parasites or communicable illnesses, as well as to give us time to monitor each rescue's health and temperament. The animals listed on this site are ready to be adopted. To see the animals that are currently still in quarantine, check out our website at www.bewildnc.org/available-rescues.
Adoption Policy
Please complete our adoption application.
Application reviews typically take 3-5 business days.
Adopters must agree to the following terms:
- To care for the animal according to modern accepted husbandry practices
- To seek veterinary care from an appropriate exotic animal veterinarian if necessary
- To never breed the animal and take any measures necessary to prevent reproduction
- To contact BeWild if you are no longer able to care for the animal
- To never rehome/surrender the animal without allowing BeWild the option to reclaim it
- To pick up the animal in Durham, NC within 7 days of approval
