Our Mission
The Transylvania Animal Shelter is the primary office for the Transylvania Animal Services Department. Animal Services enforces state and local animal law, is responsible for rabies control and operates the animal shelter.
Animal Services accepts anonymous animal welfare reports, provides rabies vaccinations to pets and operates the animal adoption program.

Adoption Policy
Adopting a shelter dog or cat is a 10 to 15 year commitment. Most animals in shelters arrive frightened and in need of care. The animals receive what they need and most thrive when placed in a stable home.
Transylvania County treats animals for their immediate needs, tests for common diseases, vaccinates and spays or neuters the pet before leaving. An application is completed, a deposit made and the pet is sterilized. After surgery, the pet is ready to go home!
Our adoption fees are:
Dogs $100-115
Cats $90-105
