Adoption Policy

We have an adoption application that asks specific questions that help us to determine whether the cat or dog would be a good fit for the potential adopter & family.

Adoption Applications for Mississippi Coalition for Animal Protection are located on ms-cap.org

Once we receive the completed application, we will call your references, employer, and landlord (if applicable).

You will be asked to provide a photo ID with your current address or current mail with current address with your submitted application. Your ID and additional forms can be attached to the application. (If the address on your ID does not match your current address, both items are required).

** Once you get an approval, we will send you your link to adopt through our website. We will send you an invoice for transportation if applicable. We will work with you and our transport partners to set up transport date.

***Currently, we arrange transport Northeastern States and Midwest (Wisconsin, Lower Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee) Please email us if you wish to adopt outside of these areas.

Fees WILL NOT be refunded once your pet is on hold if you change your mind. We hold pets for serious adopters only.

(CATS ADOPTERS) We make sure that the potential adopter will keep the cats in doors and not declaw, and that they have an established vet or are looking for one.

Lastly, we require a "home visit." A home visit is virtual via photos. We require photos of your home showing it is safe for a pet. We do meet and greets via zoom or face-time to establish that the home is a safe environment for the potential pet.

We conduct follow-ups with new family to ensure everything is working out for their pet and their family.

**We reserve the right to refuse an adoption**
