Our Mission
Burge Bird Rescue is a non-profit no-kill organization that takes in unwanted pet birds, provides the veterinary care they need, and helps find them forever homes. We serve the Kansas City area. Birds are housed in the Rescue Room, an addition built onto Burge Bird Services, the veterinary clinic owned by Dr. Julie Burge.
Adoption Policy
We are happy to set up an appointment for you to come meet our available birds to see if one of them will be a good fit for you.  WE DO NOT SHIP BIRDS AND WE DO NOT ADOPT FOR BREEDING.  We require an interview along with a written application, and we do sometimes decide that our bird may not be a good fit for your home. We usually require two visits, so don't count on taking a bird home during your first visit to our rescue.  All of our birds come with a 30 day return policy for a full refund if things don't work out.Â
