Allies for Greyhounds of West Michigan, Inc. was founded on October 27, 2006. Since then we have placed over 1000 retired racing greyhounds into loving forever homes. As our group grew and we began placing greyhounds not only in multiple states but in Canada as well, we discovered that we were much larger than West Michigan. In the Spring of 2013, we received approval to formally change our name to Allies for Greyhounds, Inc. We are the same, all volunteer family oriented and Racing PROud group, but our change in name reflects how large our family has become.
Please go to our website (www.alliesforgreyhounds.org) and fill out an on-line application. When we receive your adoption application a local volunteer will process your information. Upon approval, an adoption co-coordinator will contact your regarding your application and set up a time to conduct your adoption in home visit with three hounds and help you pick out a dog that is suitable for you and your family. We will not "force" a dog on you, but we help you pick a dog that is going to fit your needs.
The adoption fee of $250.00 or $350.00 for TGIE (The Greyhound Inmate Experience) hounds covers: spay/neuter, full dental cleaning, updated shots, 3 months supply of heart worm preventative, martingale style collar (specially designed for Greyhounds), leash, muzzle and of course a retired racing Greyhound. Upon adoption you will also have access to a large Greyhound community where Greyhound owners pride themselves with their knowledge and love of this
