Our Mission

Mulberry Acres Rescue is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and lifelong care of companion parrots in need. We provide a safe, enriching environment where surrendered, abandoned, or displaced birds receive proper medical care, behavioral support, and species-appropriate enrichment. Birds who are suitable for adoption are thoughtfully matched with qualified homes, while those who cannot be safely rehomed are provided permanent sanctuary. Through responsible stewardship, education, and community engagement, Mulberry Acres Rescue works to improve the welfare of parrots and promote ethical, informed lifelong care.

Adoption Policy

Please keep these important policies in mind: - We do not ship birds. - We do not adopt birds beyond a 200 mile radius from our location in Brighton, Michigan. - We are not a pet store. We require multiple visits to ensure compatibility before taking a bird home. - Adopters have a 90 day trial period before official ownership is transferred. - You must be 21 to apply. Immediate denials will go through for: - Applicants who demonstrate impatience or contact us excessively during the adoption process. We seek adopters who show patience, understanding, and respect for the time and care involved in our placement process. - smokers in the home - ferrets in the home - an excessive amount of pets (evaluated based on type of animals) - new bird owners wanting a large parrot - bird breeders of any kind Mulberry Acres reserves the right to approve or deny any application at our sole discretion.
