The Grateful Dog Animal Rescue

York, ME

Our Mission

The Grateful Dog Animal Rescue is a non-profit, no kill, all volunteer dog rescue dedicated to saving the lives of dogs left in high kill shelters, and local surrenders of owners who no longer want their dogs. We mainly pull southern dogs who are at risk for euthanasia. We try to pull the dogs who have been at the shelter the longest, the black dogs, older dogs, and simply overlooked dogs. It is our mission to focus on the adult dogs who stand less of a chance since puppies are in such high demand. We believe every shelter dog deserves a chance to be Grateful, and though we can't save them all, we do everything we can to make a dent in getting homeless dogs off of the streets and out of the shelter.

Adoption Policy

It is our mission to not only save dogs from poor shelter conditions, euthanasia, and homelessness down south, but to make sure that our dogs never have to face that fate again.

We have a careful screening process that consists of reference checks, a veterinary referral, and a home visit ensuring that our furry friends stay in their forever homes for good. Our adoptable dogs are healthy and waiting for their forever homes. Our adoption fee is $425 which includes spay/neuter, up to date on vaccinations and preventatives, and microchipped.

Adopters must be 23 years of age or older. Application, references and a home visit must be completed to adopt.

We are a foster based rescue and we do not have a shelter or physical location. To meet one of our adoptable dogs, send us an email at thegratefuldoganimalrescue.com or visit our website and click on Adoption Applications for the link to apply.
