Our Mission
Because every cat deserves kindness and care.
Since 2004, Billerica Cat Care Coalition (BCCC) has been committed to protecting and improving the lives of abandoned and homeless cats and kittens in our community. As the first organization in Billerica to advocate for humane feline care, we've helped bring compassion and responsible treatment to the forefront of local animal welfare.
Through education, outreach, and hands-on rescue work, we empower caregivers, veterinarians, and community members to make a lasting difference. Our volunteers provide food, shelter, medical care, and advocacy for cats who have nowhere else to turn — giving them safety, comfort, and hope.
BCCC also partners with respected no-kill organizations such as Alley Cat Allies and Best Friends Animal Society, helping to expand humane practices across the region. Together, we're building a future where every cat is valued, cared for, and given the chance to thrive.
Adoption Policy
Interested adopters must apply first with our on-line adoption application and must give their vet permission to give references, if they have one. After the adoption application is received, we contact their vet to get references. If it looks good, we contact the potential adopter to discuss adoption. If someone is a first time pet owner, we review the application and if it looks good, we contact them to discuss potential adoption. If approved, they are set up to meet & greet feline(s) at the foster home, where it will be determined if this is a good fit or not. They can take their new pet(s) home if the fit is good and if they bring cat carrier(s) and adoption fee. Then, the new pet(s) medical records are transferred to their vet electronically.
Part of our expectation for any cats or kittens adopted from BCCC is they receive regular, annual wellness check-ups. Also, vet visits if something else comes up that is unexpected. It is much easier to manage a small medical issue for a pet ahead of time, rather than wait until they show signs of serious illness.
