Ruston Animal Control
Our Mission
The Animal Control Department supports the humane treatment of animals inside the Ruston city limits, through the operation of the Ruston Animal Shelter, educational programs, and enforcement of City and State laws.
Adoption Policy
All adoptions are first come, first served at the shelter. Please contact us if these hours do not work for you or if you are interested in taking an adoptable pet out for the day or weekend to test compatibility! There is no pre-adoption application or paperwork, everything is done at the shelter at the time of adoption - just bring an open heart, cash or check to pay, and transportation items (leash, collar, crate/carrier, etc).
Pay by cash or check only:
Dog adoption fee: $150
Cat adoption fee: $120
All dogs and cats come microchipped. Those over 4 months old will be spayed/neutered and vaccinated for rabies prior to adoption. We will coordinate with you for any pets adopted before turning 4 months old to come back to the shelter to get spayed/neutered and receive their rabies vaccine free of charge after turning 4 months old.
We do our best to keep Petfinder up to date, but we cannot always guarantee every animal posted is still available due to paperwork/software processing delays. Feel free to contact us to ask if a specific animal is still adoptable! We do not check inquiries/messages on PetFinder.
For questions, the best way to contact us is by phone at (318) 251-8685. You can also message us through Facebook @rustonanimalcontrol
