The Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter mission is to improve the community through the practice of compassion by saving and protecting animals, providing care and treatment, through education advocate for their welfare and to enhance the human-animal bond. Jefferson Parish operates a shelter location on both the Eastbank and the Westbank of the parish.
Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter is open to the public by appointment-only. Call (504) 736-6111 for the Eastbank Shelter and (504) 349-5111 for the Westbank Shelter.
Emailing our adoption/foster coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org is the best way to adopt or to foster.
All must wear a face covering or mask and undergo a temperature screening prior to entering. Animal Control will ramp up services and continue to respond to emergency calls, including issues of aggressive or injured animals.

Microchipping for dogs and cats is offered during shelter business hours.
The cost is $25 & includes registration. Dogs must be on leash, and cats must be in carriers.
RABIES VACCINATIONS (canceled until further notice)
East Bank Campus: Wednesdays 10:00 AM - 11:30AM.
West Bank Campus: Tuesdays 10:00 AM - 11:30AM.
Animals must be at least 4 months old. Price for intact pets is $20. Price for spayed or neutered pets is $15. Dogs need to be leashed, and cats need to be in carriers.
JPAS no longer accepts cash for transactions. Only money orders, personal checks, debit cards & credit cards are accepted. There is a nominal processing fee for debit/credit card transactions.

The ONLY WAY to drive to the JPAS Eastbank Campus is by traveling north on South Clearview Parkway as if coming from Jefferson Highway or Huey Long Bridge. (If traveling from the north on S. Clearview, make the U-turn by the light in front of McDonald's.) and get in the second lane from the right. Take Harahan/New Orleans exit 3139. Stay in the LEFT lane and take 3139 North exit to Harahan at split. Continue in the LEFT land past green signs marked "Animal Shelter." Proceed under the overpass and follow the road (loops under both overpasses) until you can turn right to enter the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter parking lot. This is #1 Humane Way. The entrance to the lobby is in the front of the building.
From New Orleans:
Cross Crescent City Connection to Westbank. Take Exit 6B onto Westbank Expressway. Move into right hand lane and stay to right at split before Harvey Tunnel exit. Take left at Peters Rd. Shelter is on the corner of Peters Rd and Lapalco Blvd (cross under Lapalco Bridge overpass).
From Huey Long Bridge/Avondale/Waggamann:
Take Westbank Expressway (US 90 East). Exit 6 (Manhattan Blvd). Stay in left lane and take U-Turn to West Frontage Rd. Stay in 2nd lane from the Right. Take left at Peters Rd. Shelter is on the corner of Peters Rd and Lapalco Blvd (cross under Lapalco Bridge overpass).
Alternate Rte: Take Exit 5 (MacArthur Ave). Merge Right. Continue through Harvey Tunnel in Left Hand lane. Take U-Turn to West Frontage Road. Stay in 2nd lane from the Right. Take left at Peters Rd. Shelter is on the corner of Peters Rd and Lapalco Blvd (cross under Lapalco Bridge overpass).
