Da Vinci's Dream

Gradyville, KY

Our Mission

At Da Vinci's Dream, our mission is to save and improve the lives of cats and dogs in need. We are dedicated to rescuing animals from high-risk shelters and illegal puppy mills, providing them with compassionate care, and connecting them with loving forever homes. Through our unwavering commitment to animal welfare, community outreach, and responsible pet ownership, we strive to create a brighter future for every furry friend we encounter. Together, let's make a lasting impact on the lives of these deserving animals, one rescue at a time.

Adoption Policy

Application:
The first step in our adoption process is to complete our detailed adoption application. This application helps us understand your preferences, lifestyle, and expectations as a pet owner. We encourage you to provide honest and thoughtful responses to assist us in finding the perfect companion for you.

Review and Contact:
Once we receive your application, our dedicated team will review it carefully. We may reach out to you to gather additional information or clarify any details. Please be patient during this stage as we strive to ensure a suitable match for both you and our rescue animals.

Meet and Greet:
If your application is approved, we will schedule a meet and greet with the rescue animal you are interested in. This meeting allows you to interact with the animal, learn more about their personality, and see if there is a connection. It is essential for both you and the animal to feel comfortable and bond during this initial meeting.

Adoption Fee and Paperwork:
If the meet and greet is successful, we will proceed with the adoption. We request an adoption fee, which helps cover the cost of veterinary care, vaccinations, spaying/neutering, and other expenses incurred during the animal's time with us. We will provide you with all necessary paperwork, including an adoption agreement.

I’M INTERESTED IN THIS DOG/CAT, WHAT DO I DO NEXT?
————————————————————————————————————————

We're excited that you've found a dog or cat you're interested in! To help streamline the adoption process and ensure we have the necessary information about potential adopters, please follow these steps:

Understand the Difference: Submitting an inquiry or application on Petfinder is not the same as applying for the dog or cat. Inquiries provide us with minimal information about the potential adopter, making it challenging for us to evaluate suitability.

Submit an Application: We kindly ask that you submit an adoption application on our website to be considered for adoption. Please choose the appropriate application link below based on whether you are interested in adopting a dog or cat:

Apply here (DOG): https://davincisdream.org/dog-adoption/

Apply here (CAT): https://davincisdream.org/cat-adoption/

Be Patient: Keep in mind that we are a volunteer-based organization, and we receive a high number of inquiries and applications. Due to these constraints, we may not be able to respond to every inquiry individually. However, submitting an application provides us with the necessary information to consider you as a potential adopter.

TRANSPORTS
——————————

We are based in Columbia, KY, and extend our services to other locations through our transport program. To ensure the safe and responsible transport of our animals, we currently only transport dogs to two specific destinations: Greenwood, IN, and Wilmington, OH.

To be eligible for transport, dogs/cats must meet specific criteria:

Approved Application: You will need to submit an adoption application for the animal and receive approval. Please also note that clicking the "I'm Interested" button on PetFinder is not an application. To start the adoption process, you need to fill out an application on our website.

Deposit Paid: A deposit must be paid as part of the adoption process.

Transport Contract Signed: The potential adopter must sign a transport contract, indicating their commitment to meet the dog on the designated date.

The 'Transport' label next to each animal's name signifies that this animal is available for transport, but please remember that this transport service is exclusively for dogs that meet the above criteria. This ensures the safety and well-being of the animals throughout the journey.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQS)
———————————————————————————————————————————————

Before reaching out to us, please take a moment to review these frequently asked questions.

Are your dogs potty trained?
Unless the dog's bio specifically states that they are potty trained, you can assume they are not. Many of our rescue dogs come from challenging circumstances and may not have been exposed to housetraining. Housetraining is typically the responsibility of the adopter.

Do you transport to other locations?
Currently, we only transport to Wilmington, Ohio, and Greenwood, Indiana.

Is this cat/dog still available?
If the cat or dog is listed on Petfinder and does not have an "adoption pending" tag on the website, we are still accepting applications. However, please be aware that we often receive multiple applications for each animal.

How long does it take to hear back about my application?
It can take up to 10 days to receive a response from us. If you do not hear back within this timeframe, please understand that we may have chosen not to move forward with your application. We are a volunteer-based organization and, while we read every application, we may not be able to respond to each one.
