Buddies for Life, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that began in 2003 for the purpose of finding homes for homeless dogs and puppies. We have rescued thousands of dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens and have helped finance the spaying/neutering of many more. We recently have shifted our focus from adoptions (we still 50-75 per year) to providing free or low-cost spay/neuter to the public, targeting the animals most likely to be euthanized at area shelters: cats and pit bulls. Orange County Animal Services (Orlando) takes in an average of 53 animals per day, seven days a week. It is far more practical to concentrate on slowing down the number of unwanted animals entering the shelter than to focus on adopting them out once they are there. The answer is spay/neuter.
