To promote the equitable treatment of animals through advocacy, education, rescue, and adoptions.
Adoption Policy
The applicant fills out an application. This is NOT to judge the applicant but to make sure that we match them with the right pet. We believe that adopting a pet is equivalent to adding a family member and as such, we want to get an idea of the home, activity level, etc. so we can make a great match. We follow up with a phone call with the applicant to go over the application because, let's fact it, many times there are things you'd like to elaborate on when filling out an application. Just like a resume cannot fully represent a person, an application is just the start. The phone call is where we get to know you better. The applicant can also share information that was not asked on our application. We check references, including a vet reference. Our mission is to promote the EQUITABLE treatment of animals, and we do believe they are someone (not something) so yes, we check references. We schedule a home visit where we go over what we expect of adopters and allow the adopters to ask questions.
