Our Mission

Abandoned Pet Rescue (APR) is one of the largest no-kill animal shelters in South Florida with the mission of rescuing stray, surrendered, abused and neglected pets and providing them with comprehensive care while finding them new homes.

APR, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded in 1996 by a group of volunteers who were trapping, spaying and neutering feral cats and quickly realized the greater need to help abandoned pets and advocate for a no-kill community. APR is funded solely by generous donors and grants.

Adoption Policy

Please fill out an adoption application for the pet you would like to meet or adopt and an APR team member will contact you to schedule an appointment.

Please note that APR does not do same day adoptions and takes multiple applications on each animal in an effort to best match pets and families. You must be at least 21 years to adopt and have never been convicted of animal cruelty or neglect.
