The mission of the Animal Services Division is to operate and maintain an animal shelter and to enforce County ordinances and state laws to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens and the animals of Hernando County.
Adoption Policy
Animal Services continuously receives friendly, adorable animals who need loving homes. Our animals come from various sources, such as stray animals or animals from private homes where to owner can no longer care for them. Many of them have been neglected or abandoned, but love can make a big difference in their lives.
Adoption and Rescue fees are as follows:
Cats six (6) months and older - $20
Kittens (under 6 mos) - $40
Adult dogs - $50
Puppies and dogs 25lbs and under - $70
Senior dogs and Heartworm Positive - $25
