Our Mission

Thank Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to finding forever homes for shelter, homeless and abandoned dogs of ALL breeds! We are a small group of volunteers who foster dogs in our homes where they are nurtured until a suitable permanent home is found.

Adoption Policy

Please visit thankdogrescue.org/adopt for details on our application process. Our goal is to find the best fit for all because adopting a dog is a life long commitment. To this end, we carefully screen all applicants, conduct home visits and meet & greets to ensure that all members of the family get along harmoniously. All dogs are micro chipped, spayed/neutered and up-to-date on vaccines prior to placement. We rarely adopt out of state and will only expand our reach to NY, NJ, MA, RI for our harder to place pups. Harder to place pups are those who have been in rescue for 6 months or more of have special needs. PUPPIES will NOT be adopted out of CT. 1. Start by completing our online adoption application found here: thankdogrescue.org/adopt 2. Once the adoption application is approved, a volunteer will call or email to schedule a meet and greet and home visit. All members of the household should be present for both. 3. If approved to adopt, pay the adoption fee prior to placement and agree to sign the Adoption Contract. Adoption Fee: $300 We spend an average of $500 per dog in our rescue. Our adoption fee helps to recoup some of the cost for veterinary care, food and supplies which allows us to continue saving additional dogs in need. A few things to keep in mind prior to completing this application: *We prefer applicants who are at least 21 years or older and will take special precautions in approving those in the range of 21 - 25 years. This is a period of time where many are in a state of flux. We only wish our dogs stable, permanent homes, so please understand our hesitation and respect our decision because it is all for the good of the dogs. *Landlord and/or condo association consent (if applicable) *Be prepared to show identification showing current address *Be committed to having the dog for the duration of its life (10 - 15 years) *Believe in and practice positive reinforcement training and non-aversive training metho
