Our Mission
To improve the lives of dogs in Connecticut by rescuing them from pounds and kennels, giving them good veterinary care and placing them into loving, responsible homes.
Adoption Policy
Potential adopters contact SMD Rescue via email. If the adopter seems like a good fit, an in-depth adoption application is forwarded to them. Once completed and sent back to SMD Rescue, a phone call is placed. If determined the potential adopter may be a good home, veterinary and personal references are done, and if all is positive, a time/date is set up to meet the dog. In addition, a home visit is always performed, and we do not ship our dogs out of state. We are very careful how we screen our animals.
