Our Mission
Woods Humane Society is a nonprofit animal shelter which receives no tax funds, but is supported by donations, grants, bequests, fundraising events and fees for services. We have locations in San Luis Obispo and Atascadero. Woods works closely in cooperation with the SLO Animal Shelter and other animal welfare groups to bring in animals then care for over 3000 cats and dogs each year until they are adopted into loving families.
Adoption Policy
Our shelters are open to the public every day from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m. We process adoptions on a first-come, first-served basis from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Adoption Fees:
Puppies under 5 months of age - $200
Dogs between 5 months and 7 years - $150
Dogs over 7 years of age - $100
Kittens under 5 months of age - $150
Cats between 5 months and 7 years - $80
Cats over 7 years of age - $65

Spay/Neuter
Microchip Implant and Registration
County License (SLO County residents only)
Distemper Vaccination
Kennel Cough Vaccination
Rabies Vaccination
Collar and Woods Tag
Temporary Leash
Up to date treatment for fleas, ticks, worms, and mites
Free Wellness Exam with a local veterinarian
