Our Mission

A California 501(c)(3) Animal Rescue

Welcome to South Bay Rodent Rescue (SBRR)! We are a non-profit organization specializing in the care and welfare of small, domesticated (i.e. pet), rodents.

Located in Southern California and serving the counties of Los Angeles, Ventura, Orange and their surrounding areas, SBRR offers a nurturing environment for small rodents in need.

Since its inception in 2019 SBRR has provided a safe haven to hundreds of domestic rats, mice, and hamsters while engaging and supporting the humans who love them. Through continuous care and diligent efforts in our communities, we are proud to have established ourselves as one of Los Angeles's most well-known local rodent rescues.

Our mission is simple: to RESCUE, ADOPT, and EDUCATE.

RESCUE: We are dedicated to rescuing domestic rodents requiring care and rehabilitation, providing the little ones with a nurturing environment and safety net when in need.

ADOPT: We strive to find forever homes for these animals. We work to connect interested individuals and families to their new furry (sometimes nude, sometimes fuzzy) friend(s) and provide support for all parties to thrive.

EDUCATE: We are committed to educating the public about these small, often-misunderstood, creatures. Through community outreach events, educational forums, and providing information to the curious-minded we aim to promote understanding and appreciation for all rodents.

Whether you're interested in adopting, or simply learning more about these delightful creatures, SBRR is here to support you every step of the way.

Adoption Policy

Adoption Policies for South Bay Rodent Rescue (SBRR):

To ensure the well-being of our animals prospective adopters must adhere to the following guidelines:

1. Provide proof of the adopter's permanent residence status, whether through rental or ownership of a property (apartment, home, etc.), along with confirmation that the intended animal(s) are permitted at said residence.

2. Provide verification of ownership of suitable habitat(s)* for the intended animal(s). Proof of appropriate habitat(s) can be submitted through photographic evidence and must be provided prior to going home with your new friend(s).**

3. Confirm absence of allergies to the specific animal(s) intended for adoption.

SBRR is available, and happy, to provide guidance on meeting these requirements, which are intended for the health, safety, and success of both animal(s) and human(s).
Please contact info@southbayrodentrescue.org for further support and information.

*SBRR may have gently used habitats available for purchase. This is not guaranteed as habitats are subject to availability. Please contact SBRR to inquire.

**Habitat suitability and appropriateness is subject to SBRR evaluation and discretion. All gently used habitats purchased from SBRR have been pre-evaluated and are deemed acceptable.

___________________________________________________________

Failure to meet the above standards will result in denial of the adoption application.

If the above policies cannot be met AFTER an adoption has occurred, and/or unforeseen circumstances grossly impact the adopter's ability to provide adequate, loving care, it is understood that animals adopted from SBRR will return to SBRR.
