Woody's Story

PASTURE PET ONLY

Woody, also known as "Farmer Joe," is a 2017 OTTB gelding who stands 16 hands tall and weighs 1,066 lbs. Woody does not do well in large herds and struggled to find his place here. After being moved between several pastures, he finally found the right fit living with a quiet mare.

Woody can be dominant around feeding time and is known to paw the ground impatiently while waiting for his grain.
Woody has a severe swayback that is likely the result of an old injury due to its unusual location. The dip in his back is situated near the end of his ribcage, closer to his hips, making the added weight of a rider uncomfortable and unsuitable for him. Because of this, Woody is available as a pasture companion only.

Although Woody cannot be ridden, he is full of personality and always keeps things interesting. He is a friendly, expressive gelding who enjoys attention and would make a wonderful companion for another horse in a home that appreciates his unique character.

To get approved, please complete a lifetime lease application and email it to info@wyhumane.org
Include with your completed application, pictures of your property including your barn, stall, or run-in shed, pasture, water source, and fencing both close up and a corner picture.

Links to the application and our policies.
