Wembley-'s Story

PLEASE NOTE: THE INQUIRY FORM ON THIS PAGE IS NOT THE HEART OF PHOENIX ADOPTION APPLICATION

Wembley had 110+ days in training with Josie Casebere. Follow his progress at #hopteamwembley

From Trainer 8/14/25:

He really is such a good boy. He is sweet, smart, & handsome! He has been such a joy to work with. I remember the day we picked him up, scared, wormy, and with matted winter hair still clinging long after it should have brushed out. I had to wrap a rope around his hind end just to get him to the barn from the trailer.

Well, he certainly has come far since that day. He is the first to greet you in the pasture. He will follow a trusted friend just about anywhere. He is brave & curious, just as a young horse should be. He leads, lunges, ground drives & trailer loads.

What kind of placement would be ideal for Wembley? He needs a family that won't let him go to waste. He needs balance as he continues to grow and mature. By balance I mean consistent training and exposure to new environments and experiences along with being allowed to still be a baby with a solid minded herd to guide him. He is going to be an easy horse to start under saddle when he is ready.

From trainer 7/9/25:

Wembley continues to grow in his understanding of what horse life entails every day. He is really fitting in with his herd of 4 mares and looks to his people for reassurance when he gets nervous or worried. He takes everything in stride and has learned to enjoy all the attention from his humans. He allows his feet to be handled, stands well for the farrier and remains orderly for deworming and grooming. He loads and hauls pretty quietly even when hauled alone.

He is lunging very well and understands changes in directions. He also gets a nice natural low headset at the trot when he settles into his balance.

I would love to see him go to a family who is going to continue working with him as he grows.
Wembley is going to be someone's amazing partner. Whether you're new to building great horses or if you've done it a hundred times, Wembley is willing and forgiving enough to grow and learn with horseman of any level. You will just need to put in the time.
We are all really enjoying being part of his beginning.

Adoption Info:

Horses adopted are typically up to date on vaccines, dental floats, farrier care and all vet needs.

Horses are typically located in the Appalachian area, but please inquire about a horse's specific location when you apply!

We are looking to adopt to safe homes.

A history of good horsemanship, the ability to provide sufficient care with good vet, farrier and peer references are important. If you are a first-time horse owner, we will require you to board at a facility for the first year while you learn more about care. We encourage everyone to take advantage of riding lessons.

Foal adoptions require previous, established experience with youngsters.

Our adoption process makes sure you get the right horse for you – it is a no-fail process for finding the right match.

Apply at https://www.wvhorserescue.org/adopt

PLEASE NOTE: THE INQUIRY FORM ON THIS PAGE IS NOT THE HEART OF PHOENIX ADOPTION APPLICATION
