Stryker's Story
What happens when a horse walks up to you and says “take me home.” You melt, you give him a big hug and you tell him “I will find your person.”

Stryker has been with is current owner since he was 2 years old. He was used for cutting and barrels, and excelled at everything that was asked of him. But the competitive life is not what he could handle, and the stress of that life showed up as serious kidney issue. He made a full recovery, but recently showed signs of this issue returning. Rather than put him through the physical and mental anxiety of competition, his owner felt it was best to find him a person or family he could relax with, and give him the life he wants.

Stryker needs someone who can keep him on a proper diet to avoid any kidney relapse issues (no alfalfa, timothy hay only) and spend quality time with him, walking the trails and playing with toys. He is super smart and funny, and has a lot of energy when he is feeling 100%, so an experienced rider would be best for him. He loves (and I do mean really loves) children and gets along with other horses. Other than his kidney issue, he is 100% sound and healthy. He is currently barefoot and does will without shoes. Saffyre Sanctuary will provide lifelong consultations with his adoptive family, and advising with other nutritional experts, to ensure he receives the best diet and holistic guidance to support this very manageable condition.

Stryker needs someone who understands horse-heart relationship. His time of being used as a tool is over, and he will excel with someone who has the time, love and attention that he deserves. He will/does need to get exercised daily to keep his energy in check (he can go!) Doing trail trial activities would calm his mind and allow him to express his intelligence in a fulfilling way that will keep his busy brain occupied. Stryker is a very special horse who prefers to cuddle and be spoiled. He is a hose that needs a permanent family and horses like him do not come along very often. He is the one you do not want to miss out on.

Serious inquiries only – potential adopters will go through a full screening process, including references, site inspections, and assessment of personality compatibility.

Please contact Saffyre Sanctuary for more information. Adoption Fee applies for his safety.
