Scarlett's Story

2006 17.0HH Chestnut Thoroughbred Warmblood Cross Mare

Scarlett arrived at the Center in fall 2024 through animal control, severely underweight and in need of care. Since then, she’s undergone an incredible transformation—gaining healthy weight, rebuilding muscle, and blossoming into the beautiful mare she was always meant to be.

She has been diagnosed with fibrotic myopathy in her left hamstring, which affects her balance at a canter. Because of this, we do not recommend her for cantering or high-impact activities, and her days in the show ring are behind her. However, she would make a lovely walk/trot horse for a confident rider.

Scarlett has been restarted under saddle and is proving to be a sensitive but intelligent prospect. She carries herself in a natural frame, is light in the mouth, and responds well to seat cues. She's continuing to rebuild her topline through a combination of groundwork and under-saddle work. She can be a bit jumpy with sudden noises or quick movements, so she’ll thrive with a calm, patient handler. Scarlett is also a wonderful babysitter to our yearlings.

We hope to find the perfect home for this beautiful, deserving girl! Could she be your right horse?

Adoption Fee: $1,000
