Starved and hit. She is difficult to work with and doesn't trust but that's to be expected. We don't give up even when they do not appreciate being rescued.<br/><br/>Exactly what was happening was she was living in open land with a horse that was cared for by its owner. But Penelope's owner never visited and the land was dirt and weeds. The 2nd horse's owner would visit daily and carry a big bucket of grain around the land letting his horse and only his horse eat from it. Whenever Penelope approached to enjoy grain from the bucket the guy would hit her - and he was a BIG GUY!!!<br/><br/>Thank you for considering adopting a rescued animal.
