Mike's Story
CURRENT RIDER LEVEL: Beginner

Mike is a 1999 Haflinger gelding who stands at 13.3 hands tall and weighs 810 lbs. Mike is a stout older gelding who does well turned out with other mares and geldings. Mike had had his teeth floated and we did find that he has very little chewing surface left. This makes it very difficult for Mike to eat hay and grass so he will need to be kept on senior grain in addition to needing alfalfa mash daily to maintain his weight. Mike is easy to catch but he can be pushy when leading. For the farrier, Mike behaved best when he was in the pasture/run-in with his herd and was difficult when taken away to be trimmed. Under saddle, Mike is overall a great ride! He will stand to be mounted, and he is easy to steer, stop and back. He is more "whoa than go" but he has a nice trot and lovely canter. Mike has been ridden western and bareback, in the indoor arena and around the farm. Mike would be best matched with a family who wants a safe pony for their kids to love on and ride around the farm.

To get approved, please complete a lifetime lease application and email it to info@wyhumane.org
Include with your completed application, pictures of your property including your barn, stall, or run-in shed, pasture, water source, and fencing both close up and a corner picture.

Links to the application and our policies.
