She already has a solid foundation in groundwork, ponies confidently on trails, and has been exposed to a variety of environments including parades, shows, fairs, recreation areas, and versatility events. She bathes easily, stands calmly for grooming, fly spray, blanketing, the farrier, and is happy to be loved on. She ties on cross ties, ground ties, and at the trailer like she's been doing it for years. Leeta loads and trailers well by herself or with friends. She goes out peacefully with both mares and geldings, and has a great brain—she thinks through new situations with a calm, level-headed attitude. She easily moves off of body movement, and moves on her forehand, hind end, backs, and side-passes. She has worn a saddle and lunges at the walk, trot, and canter, showing all the signs of a horse who will be easy to finish in any direction you choose, whether that's trail, ranch, performance, or versatility work. Leeta will make a great partner for someone who has experience training babies, or is working closely with a trainer. She will thrive with someone who is patient, and willing to work with her to continue to build her confidence as she grows up! She will make a amazing partner and is a pleasure to have around the barn! She is adoptable through Heart of Phoenix Equine Rescue, and pre-approved adopters are welcome to reach out to schedule a meet-and-greet. She is currently in West Gardiner, ME. If not adopted before then, In August she will be showcased at the Appalachian Trainer Face Off in West Virginia, where her potential will be on full display.

Horses are typically located in the Appalachian area, but please inquire about a horse's specific location when you apply!

We are looking to adopt to safe homes.

A history of good horsemanship, the ability to provide sufficient care with good vet, farrier and peer references are important. If you are a first-time horse owner, we will require you to board at a facility for the first year while you learn more about care. We encourage everyone to take advantage of riding lessons.

Foal adoptions require previous, established experience with youngsters.

Our adoption process makes sure you get the right horse for you – it is a no-fail process for finding the right match.

Apply at https://www.wvhorserescue.org/adopt
