Lacey's Story
Lacey is the kind of mare who’s done her job, raised her foal, and earned her rest.

She came to us several years ago from a neglect situation and surprised us not long after arrival by delivering a healthy colt. At nearly 20 years old, her one and only job was to raise him well—and she did. Once he was adopted, Lacey found a quiet retirement home where she spent the last few years as a beloved companion.

Unfortunately, due to a divorce in her adoptive home, Lacey has returned to us at 24. While she’s in good health, friendly, and easy to be around, older mares aren’t always the first to catch attention—which is a shame, because she’s truly lovely to live with.

She’s become a pretty easy keeper with basic pasture care, gets along well with others, and is kind and approachable. We’ve never formally evaluated whether she has any saddle training, but we plan to do so soon—unless someone steps forward to offer her a safe, quiet landing where she can just be.

If you believe older horses still deserve love, attention, and purpose—even if that purpose is simply being present—Lacey would be honored to share your pasture.
