Josey's Story
This mare is a special one, there's no two ways about it. Josey came to Nexus with three other mares in very poor condition. It broke our hearts to see the shape they were in, but made us happy to know they were here with us and going to receive the best care possible. Since they arrived here in July, Josey has been gaining weight extremely well and is starting to look how she should. We could tell with one eye even without handling her she was going to be a good one.

So after patient waiting, we felt she was at a healthy enough weight to see just how she would do under saddle. After tying her to the hitching post, which she did extremely well, she was brushed and brushed. She stood for fly spray and let us pick out her feet with no fuss. Next came the saddle, which she also didn't bat an eye at. Tightened both front and rear cinch and off to the round pen we went.

Josey waited patiently while I climbed on her back and off at the walk we went. Josey took extremely great care of me under saddle and I felt very safe being on her. She is an older mare who is in no big hurry at all, just loves to leisurely walk. It took some convincing to get her to trot, but she did it without complaint after a while, so if you like to take it slow here's your girl. She is a babysitter through and through. I felt comfortable enough with her on this maiden voyage that I crawled all over the saddle and she did awesome! We would be thrilled to see her be loved by a family the way she deserves. So come on and meet Josey! Josey's adoption fee is $2,500.00

All available Nexus Equine horses are current on:

-Coggins

-Vaccines

-Dental

-Farrier

-Worming

-Microchipped

If you are interested in fostering or adopting any Nexus horses please fill out our adoption interest survey on our website here

https://nexusequine.org/adoption-interest-survey/
