Jasmine's Story

Jasmine is a 15-year-old Arabian mare who is beginning a new chapter. She was with the same owner from the age of one until now. While she has always been around people, she did not receive consistent exposure to handling, and as a result she remains relatively unhandled in many ways. Jasmine is looking for an experienced, patient adopter who understands that she will need continued groundwork, consistency, and confidence-building as she re-learns the basics.

Jasmine has shown herself to be a very reasonable horse who simply lacks confidence with the pressure and expectations that come with handling. Despite major recent changes, including trailering, veterinary care, and other unfamiliar experiences, she has handled all of the transition remarkably well. The positive qualities she has already shown us make us optimistic about her ability to continue learning and progressing with the right person.

Jasmine is intelligent, food motivated, and shows a strong ability to learn. According to her previous owner, she was always exceptionally steady in her environment and unfazed by fireworks, heavy equipment, loud noises, and activity around her. Jasmine recently had her first hoof trim in quite some time and did well with sedation, which will be an important area for her future adopter to continue building on.

Jasmine previously lived with a mini horse as her companion and has shown us that she adjusts well to other horses, too. She has settled in nicely with a larger mare and seems happy to use her companion for confidence and guidance as she continues adjusting to her new environment.

With patience, consistency, and understanding, Jasmine has all the potential to blossom into either a wonderful partner and companion.
