Honey's Story

Honey is now looking for her forever home with an experienced adopter. Honey is a 6 year old who was rounded up in 2022 from Devils Garden, CA. She arrived at the Double Devil Wild Horse Corrals with a severely broken nose with bone exposed, and a torn labia which required stitching. She has been gentled by our trainer Tanya, and here is what Tanya has to say.<br/><br/>"Honey has a story that I wish she could tell me about. She's most likely had a hard journey in her short life. She came to me extremely defensive, scared and with panic mode on high all the time. Over the past year, myself and her other caretaker have been able to convince her that we only want to treat her kindly. Slow and steady she is easily haltered and led, but is still getting comfortable with what all entails of domestic life. She looks to her caretaker for confidence when she is scared, but unfortunately has a low tolerance for things that are new to her. She requires an experienced adopter who is patient and willing to work with Honey at the pace she is comfortable with. Honey is a small, quiet, stout large pony who would enjoy a home that is laid back with a patient adopter who would give her a regular routine she could count on. Honey may be more suited for a companion home as I am not certain she would physically be able to carry a rider safely, she would need a more extensive vet work up to decide that for sure. She loves treats and to have her face scratched, accepts a fly mask and will be the first one at the gate for dinner. Currently she is still mastering hoof picking and we have begun hiking in the woods to help build her confidence. If you need the most beautiful honey colored pony in your herd, please consider this girl."
