Garnet

PASTURE PET ONLY

Green Garnet (Garnet) is a 2015 Thoroughbred mare standing 16 hands tall and weighing 1,082 lbs.

A retired Off-the-Track Thoroughbred, Garnet is looking for a loving home where she can simply enjoy life as a cherished companion. X-rays taken before her arrival showed narrowing between her spinal vertebrae (kissing spine), making her unsuitable for riding. Because of this, Garnet is available as a pasture pet only.

What Garnet lacks in rideability, she more than makes up for with her wonderful personality. She is incredibly social, easy to handle, and genuinely enjoys spending time with people. She'll happily meet you at the gate, loves being groomed, and is always eager for attention.

Garnet gets along well with both mares and geldings and would make an excellent companion for another horse. She is the more dominant horse in a herd and can be possessive of shelter and food sources, so she'll do best with compatible pasture mates and a home that can provide adequate space and multiple feeding areas.

She is an active mare with a playful spirit who loves to run, buck, and play no matter the weather. Garnet enjoys having the freedom to choose whether she'd like to be indoors or out, and she thrives in a home that offers access to both.

If you're looking for a gorgeous, affectionate mare to share your pasture and your heart, Garnet is ready to find the forever home she deserves.

To get approved, please complete a lifetime lease application and email it to info@wyhumane.org
Include with your completed application, pictures of your property including your barn, stall, or run-in shed, pasture, water source, and fencing both close up and a corner picture.

Links to the application and our policies.
