Daryl's Story

PASTURE PET ONLY

Daryl is a 2000 Grade gelding who stands at 14.3 hands tall and weighs 962lbs.
Daryl is a quiet, kind-hearted senior who has truly earned his peaceful retirement. He is the low man on the totem pole in his mixed senior herd of mares and geldings and does best in a calm, understanding environment where his needs are respected.

Daryl is pasture pet only. His age, arthritis, and a sore back make him unsuitable for riding of any kind, even for young or lightweight riders. What he is perfect for is companionship and love.

To stay healthy and comfortable, Daryl requires senior grain and alfalfa mash, and he will need a home committed to meeting his nutritional needs as he enjoys his golden years.

On the ground, Daryl is an absolute sweetheart. He is easy to catch, stands perfectly for the farrier, and adores treats, scratches, and being groomed right in the field. One of his favorite things is gentle hugs and face-to-face cuddles — he truly thrives on quiet affection and one-on-one attention.

We don’t know Daryl’s past before he was surrendered to our farm, but we don’t need to. What we do know is that he has more than earned a loving retirement, and we are dedicated to finding him a home where he will be cherished, comfortable, and cared for as the special senior he is.
If you’re looking for a gentle companion to spoil and love, Daryl may be the perfect addition to your pasture.

To get approved, please complete a lifetime lease application and email it to info@wyhumane.org
Include with your completed application, pictures of your property including your barn, stall, or run-in shed, pasture, water source, and fencing both close up and a corner picture.

Links to the application and our policies.
