Chowder's Story

Chowder
He is a 2y old (June 2023 baby) 3/4 Belgian, 1/4 Brabant gelding. He is a chonk and a very easy keeper weight wise. Chowder has had a very rough start on life, his mama stepped on him at a very young age. The process of recovering was a long road that included multiple surgeries. He is completely sound in every way with zero visible signs of the trauma he experienced. With the medical he had to endure at such a young age, he has been handled extensively. He allows all handling with ease. He is easy to catch and halter. He can be stall or pasture kept. He LOVES water, he drinks a lot and he loves to play in the water tanks. He stands for trimming without stocks, he has been trimmed since he was a tiny baby. He trims best in cross ties vs being held. Chowder will stand tied or in cross ties quietly. He loaded to come to our farm as a foal but has not been loaded since. Chowder will NOT make a good riding horse, he is built like his mama and she is the most uncomfortable ride that you can imagine. He is short backed and built like a tree trunk. He pastures with all horses with zero concerns, he is very laid back baby.
We have a very strict no breeding contract, we also have a no backing contract on young horses, meaning ZERO rides until they are at least 3 years old. Our adoption fees reflect the current market, training, and costs involved with their rescue. If you’re interested in adoption, you will need to complete the HORSE adoption application and be prepared to do a video chat at the property where the horse will be residing. We will ask to see certain things and this is to ensure both the safety of our horses and the longevity of the adoption. Applications are online at www.lennoxslegacyrescue.org
