Beau's Story

Beau is a distinguished older gentleman who is looking for something a little different from your typical riding home—a peaceful place to enjoy his retirement and be loved exactly as he is.

Beau is a more reserved horse who enjoys his independence and appreciates having a good view of the world around him. He may not always seek out attention, but he has a soft side for the right kind of affection. He absolutely loves being massaged, especially along his back and hindquarters, and he seems to genuinely enjoy having someone nearby simply talking to him while he grazes or relaxes.

And if theres one thing Beau is never too reserved about, its food! He LOVES his meals and will happily follow his favorite humans around with his bucket, occasionally trying to help himself before its actually time to eat.

Beau is a very intelligent horse, but he is also a horse who needs clear boundaries and experienced handling. He currently lacks some basic manners and can be pushy, including walking into or over his handler or refusing to go in the direction hes being led. He will require someone confident and knowledgeable who can establish respectful boundaries and continue working with him consistently. Because of this, Beau is not a beginner horse.

Beau also has specific considerations when it comes to other horses. He has previously displayed aggressive and dominant behavior toward another male and is not considered a good candidate for being pastured directly with other horses. He has, however, done well when separated by a fence and enjoys interacting with a neighboring horse from across the fence line.

At this stage of his life, Beau is looking for a quiet retirement home where he can be comfortable, safe, and cared for without the expectations of a riding career. We believe he would be best suited as a companion horse rather than a riding horse.

Beau may not be the horse who runs up looking for attention, but give him a peaceful environment, a good meal, a massage, and someone willing to sit and talk with him, and youll get to see the sweet old soul hiding underneath that independent exterior.

His ideal adopter will be experienced with horses, comfortable establishing boundaries, and willing to give Beau the calm, consistent retirement he deserves.
