Aurora's Story

CURRENT RIDER LEVEL: Confident Beginner

Aurora is a 2006 Mustang mare who stands at 13 hands tall and weighs 828 lbs.
Aurora came in with 3 other older, untrained mustangs who have had very little handling. Aurora has learned to trust people and she enjoys affection and attention now too. Aurora is an easy keeper, she gets along well with the other mares and geldings shes turned out with. Aurora will stand tied with her person close by or actively grooming her, but leaving her to stand alone makes her anxious and will require more work. Aurora will pick up her front feet with no problems but with her backs she gets impatient. Aurora currently rides in a hackamore but we are working with her to take a bit. Aurora will stand to be mounted from a block or the ground. She has been ridden western, english and bareback. She has a smooth trot and a speedy canter thats equally as smooth. She genuinely likes to work and really enjoys going over jumps! Aurora can be strong headed and will occasionally brace against pressure when asking to stop or turn. The tendency to brace, is getting better the more we work with her. Aurora has been on the trail, but she is nervous and lacks consistent experience. Aurora is a wonderful mare with a lot of potential, she is sound, hardy and stocky. Aurora would be best matched with a confident beginner or an intermediate rider who can offer her consistency and more positive life experiences.

To get approved, please complete a lifetime lease application and email it to info@wyhumane.org
Include with your completed application, pictures of your property including your barn, stall, or run-in shed, pasture, water source, and fencing both close up and a corner picture.

Links to the application and our policies.
