April's Story

CURRENT RIDER LEVEL: Advanced

April is a 2005 National Show Horse mare, who stands at 15 hands tall and weighs 952lbs. April is an intelligent and spicy mare who loves attention from her people. She holds her own out in a herd of mares and geldings and she is always the first one to come up to you in the pasture. April is being ridden primarily English but she has done some western riding too. April needs a rider with a soft touch. She is sensitive and responsive to voice, seat, hands and leg pressure. She is a wonderful ride and a beautiful mover. April will need a confident intermediate to advanced rider. She requires consistency and isn't tolerant of bouncing or unbalanced riders. April can ride on the buckle but is easily collected. She will test her riders but if you are willing to work with her, she is a wonderful ride! April has a smooth floaty trot and speedy canter. She is in tune with her riders seat and energy level. If you speed up your posting trot, April will extend her trot with ease. When she feels you slow your post she will relax her trot. When your ready to stop, take a deep breath, tighten your grip on the reins and April will gently come to a stop. April is extremely athletic and shows potential as a hunter jumper, cross-country jumper or possibly dressage. She has been jumping 2 feet but is capable of doing more with conditioning and the right partner. April would be best matched with an english or endurance rider looking for a talented horse to bond with.

To get approved, please complete a lifetime lease application and email it to info@wyhumane.org
Include with your completed application, pictures of your property including your barn, stall, or run-in shed, pasture, water source, and fencing both close up and a corner picture.

Links to the application and our policies.
