Zora's Story

Welcome to rescue Zora!
Zora is 12-years-old, currently being fostered near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

Zora's surgery was a success and her masses were benign!! Thank you to everyone who donated and shared their support! We wanted to share a few pics of her styling her surgical recovery suits!

2/13 ZORA UPDATE: On Monday 2/16, Zora will undergo surgery to:

• Remove multiple masses along her mammary chain (which will be sent to pathology)

• Correct a painful vaginal prolapse that puts her at ongoing risk for infection

She has underwent extensive bloodwork and diagnostic testing to ensure she is safe for anesthesia. And since her lymph nodes were enlarged we performed aspirates to rule out lymphoma. Thankfully the results showed infection - not cancer.

Zora has already been started on treatment for her severe ear and skin infections and we are so happy to report we are starting to seeing some soft peach fuzz along her rump since she has started treatment!

If you are able to contribute toward Zora's medical care, every single dollar helps. Donations go directly to dogs like Zora who need extensive medical intervention to get a second chance at comfort and love. Please visit our website and click on the Donate button:

https://nationalnewfoundlandrescue.com/donate

The name Zora symbolizes, dawn, light and new beginnings- and that is certainly what this sweet senior lady will get in her foster home where she's already getting spoiled like a Queen! As you can see in her photo, Zora is in need of a new skincare routine, medical care and some extra TLC.

She was an absolute doll at her first vet appointment. She is so sweet and eager to please, she will let you know with a Newfie paw slap if you stopped petting her too soon! Many of Zora's teeth are broken and she is in need of a dental. She is getting extensive bloodwork to confirm she can safely be anesthetized for this. She also has severe ear and skin infections requiring twice weekly special medicated baths. She has a hematoma on her ear, swollen lymph nodes (likely from her infections which further testing will confirm), she has a vaginal mass or polyp that is being looked at, she had a skin scrape test and has started prescription food along with antibiotics and steroids.

Zora will need the help of our village for testing, treatments and comfort!

Zora's Amazon wishlist sold out! If you would like to help with the expense of Zora's prescription food, please consider donating a Chewy gift card here https://www.chewy.com/g/national-newfoundland-rescue-inc_b93513891#wish-list&wishlistsortby=DEFAULT

It's never too soon to submit an application, you only need to apply once to be considered for any dog who is a match for your home.

** Want to send this dog a gift? When you purchase a bib or bandana from our store with the code 4FOSTER they will receive it. The rescue receives the profit from the sale and the foster dog receives a gift!

When purchasing for a specific dog, please include that note in the comments.

Or, purchase one for yourself!

Link for Bibs

https://nationalnewfoundlandrescue.com/product-category/bib/

Link for Bandanas

https://nationalnewfoundlandrescue.com/product-category/bandanas/
