Meet Zona: Adopted!
Date of birth: 2/13/2016
4/25/2017: Zona is a super cute Hound mix with an absolutely gorgeous red and black coat. She is a year old and she weighs 57 lbs. Zona is very sweet but she is a bit shy until she gets to know you. She is very food motivated, however, and so befriending her with tasty treats helps to gain her trust more quickly. She’s also head shy until she gets to know you well. We don’t want to place Zona in a home with young children due to her initial shyness. Zona gets along very well with other dogs and we'd like to place her in a home with another dog. She’s playful and likes playing with squeaky toys. She walks nicely on a leash. We'd prefer to place her in a house rather than an apartment building-- a less crowded and busy environment would be easier for her.
Zona was given up because her previous owner wasn’t supposed to have a dog in his rental property and the landlord found out. He said that Zona is house trained and crate trained. He also said that she has climbed a 4 ft chain link fence, so she will need supervision when in a fenced yard. Zona has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for heartworms. She’s a real sweetie!
MORE ON ADOPTING OUR DOGS...
Please visit our web site at HSGKC.ORG for more information about our adoption process, our adoption fees and all that's included, and for a pet adoption application.
> Our goal is to send you home with a healthy pet and any information and support you may need to help your new pet adjust to his or her new home. All of our dogs & puppies have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas & ticks, tested for heartworms (7 mo. and over), and are on monthly heartworm preventative. Puppies who are too young to receive all the necessary puppy boosters and/or first rabies shot may be brought back to us for those vaccines at no extra charge. You will also receive a leash, collar, coupons for pet supplies and services, toys, and educational materials. And we'll give your dog a bath before he or she goes home!
> Please note that we prefer and may require a fenced yard for many of our dogs. Exceptions are made on an individual basis depending on the dog's needs, the person's dog experience, the dog's and person's activity levels, home environment and other factors.
> An application is required to adopt a pet and applicants must meet our adoption requirements. If you decide you'd like to adopt one of our dogs, we reserve the pet for you but we generally don't send the dog home with you that same day.
Thank you for searching for a shelter pet!
