Zoe's Story

Meet Zoe!

I am a gentle soul with a heart full of love. I am very sweet and have a mellow temperament. My life up until now has been a rough one. I was found walking around on a highway. Emaciated and weak from fending for myself for a very long time. While I can’t tell my angel humans how long, my body says it was a very long time out on my own. I was full of ticks and open wounds. My paws were infected and sore. I’ve had a whole lot of very nice humans come along to help me on my healing journey. From the folks that found me, the ones that got me off the streets, to the ones that got me started on medical care and drove me miles to land with New Start Dog Rescue. I am very grateful to no longer be in pain, hungry and lonely.

The vet says I am about 5 years old. When I arrived I weighed just 57 lbs. But with some good nutrition, I’m up to 65 lbs now. And the vet says I don’t need to gain much more, to keep me on the slim side. I’m discovering what it’s like to be an inside dog. Having toys and a soft place to sleep. This makes me happy. I’m great with other dogs and love all humans.

I LOVE being outside, it’s all I knew for so long. But I’m also happy being inside. An above ground, fully fenced in yard is a must for me as I really do enjoy lounging in a secure yard. My street days are over! I'm not a fan of being crated but have been pretty trustworthy hanging out lose in the house when my foster mom has to leave.

Zoe is available to adopt in the Chicagoland area and is being fostered in a home. Appointments to visit her will be set up for approved adopters only. Adoption fee is $250.00 which includes all age appropriate vaccines, and she is already spayed and microchipped. Please visit our website at http://newstartdogrescue.org and fill out an application if you are interested.
