Zinya's Story
Meet Zinya, a tiny Chihuahua with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Born approx. August 2025, this smart little lady came to us as an owner surrender after struggling in a home where it was believed the children were picking on her. When Zinya first arrived, she was scared and quick to use her teeth to protect herself. Since then, her foster family has worked incredibly hard with her, and the transformation has been amazing. Zinya no longer bites the people she knows and trusts in her foster home, and once you’re in her circle, she absolutely adores you. She’s learned to sit, come, and even fetch—one of her favorite games! She’s an absolute joy to watch with puzzle feeders, loves to cuddle, and is happiest curled up with her person after a good play session.

Zinya will need a patient, understanding adult-only home (no kids, please) that can continue to help her build confidence with new people. While she’s made wonderful progress, she will still nip when she’s scared around unfamiliar people, so slow introductions and a calm environment will be key to her success. She does well with other dogs as long as food isn’t involved, as she can be protective of her meals. Zinya also has a grade 5 heart murmur, so she’ll need a family committed to monitoring her health with their veterinarian. She’s still working on potty training and will need consistency and encouragement. Zinya is truly a special little dog—sweet, clever, and deeply devoted once she trusts you. In the right home, she will be a loyal and loving companion and snuggle buddy.

Please visit www.handsheartspaws.org for an adoption application

All of our dogs are current on vaccinations, spayed/neutered, microchipped, fecal tested, heartworm tested, and they are all on heartworm and flea/tick preventative.

The adoption process is an application, a vet reference, a home visit, and a lifetime contract. The requested adoption donation for this dog is $350___.

We do not REQUIRE a fenced in yard (some dogs DO REQUIRE a fence. Decide what is best for each dog), we do REQUIRE a means of safe outside containment. We do NOT adopt to homes that use invisible fencing. Invisible fencing is NOT a safe means of outside containment.

We are willing to adopt out-of-state, contingent on our ability to complete a home visit, but you must travel to Omaha to complete the adoption. We do not transport or ship our dogs
