Say hello to Ziggy!!

Ziggy is an adorable and super affectionate pup who was surrendered to a local shelter when his owner could no longer care for him. It was evident when he came to us that not much “care” was actually given to this precious boy. He was underweight and had lost a lot of his fur from mange, easily treatable and not contagious but very uncomfortable and itchy for Ziggy. With the shelter completely full, Ziggy was on borrowed time and we are so glad we were able to step up to help him.

Ziggy needs a home to call his own! He is 45lbs and around 2-3 years old though he acts like a young puppy, in a good way. He’s very energetic and loves to play. He’ll chase after the ball and sometimes he’ll bring it back and other times he wants to play keep away. Ziggy is very attentive and smart, so you should have no issues training him to your liking. He LOVES to give kisses and cuddle. He was not socialized with other dogs in his previous home, so we will need to assess him more if you already have dogs at home. He sniffed a couple cats at the shelter with no issue but more assessing can be done with kitties too if needed. He hasn’t been tested with kids but we expect he’ll be good with kids who are old enough to play with an active dog as he may topple over little ones in his excitement.

Ziggy is neutered, heartworm negative and up to date on vaccinations. His skin is still healing but he already looks way better than before. As with any dog, he will need time to adjust to a new schedule and routine. We cannot guarantee that any dog arrives fully housebroken, but Ziggy is a smart boy and tries to hold it until he can get outside. Breed labels are just a guess based on observation. It would be fun for Ziggy's new family to do a DNA test on him!

The dog you are considering is located in South Mississippi. We conduct virtual meet and greets for out-of-town applicants and can provide for transport (fee added to cost of adoption) to many northeastern states. At this time we are not able to transport into Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine or Rhode Island.
