Zia's Story

Meet Zia!

We met Zia back in November 2023 when we got a call about a young, injured dog with a broken leg. This sweet girl was literally minutes away from being euthanized at a local municipal shelter when we were able to secure a foster and scoop her up, just in the nick of time. And wow are we SO grateful we did! She is the sweetest soul.

When she arrived to us, she was very young, only about 6 months old, and had an old femur fracture, more than likely from being hit by a car. It was non-surgical, and after several week sof kennel confinement, she was good to go! Unfortunately, a few months later, she tore her ACL, so she also had TPLO surgery, and now, she is healthy and loving life!

Zia is around 3 years old, just under 50 pounds, and wonderful with other dogs (though she prefers males or easygoing females). She's also great with kids.

And back in June 2025, Zia was featured by Embark as part of their adoptable rescue dog series! They ran her DNA, and we now know she is 60.1% American Pit Bull Terrier, 21.1% Supermutt, 14.6% Russell-type Terrier, and 4.2% Rottweiler. And all of that adds up to being a 100% gorgeous, perfect Zia!

But if we're being honest, Zia is absolutely the type of dog who would rather be with her humans than anyone else. She truly believes she's a lap baby! So if you work from home or are retired, this girl will be your shadow, your snuggle buddy, or your best coworker ever.

Zia also loves going on walks and exploring new places! She is very much a "stop and smell the roses" type of walking buddy. And she LOVES visiting her friends at doggy daycare for playtime!

She is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative, walks great on a leash, loves car rides, and is kennel trained.

Zia has been waiting far too long for her forever family, and honestly we don't know why. She's such a gem!

Zia is currently hanging out in one of our Memphis area foster homes and is accepting applications for her forever family.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING THIS PET PLEASE SUBMIT THE ADOPTION APPLICATION VIA OUR WEBSITE: WWW.TAILSOFHOPEDOGRESCUE.COM.
