Zep's Story

My name is Zep! I am an almost 2-year-old male German Shepherd/ Australian Cattle Dog Mix. I get along well with other dogs and with cats (even tiny kittens!) and would probably do best in a house with other pets. I entered an animal shelter as a stray when I was 7 months old, and waited there for 5 months for someone to adopt me. The shelters were so full of puppies, so I wasn’t having much luck at finding a home. Then, I got lucky and came to UC Davis to be neutered, and got to stay to help teach vet students how to work with a real dog! I have graduated from the program now, and am looking for my new home. Since I haven’t experienced much life outside of an animal shelter, I am nervous when I meet new people (especially men), but once I warm up to you, I am very affectionate and playful! I would love to join a home that has a friendly, confident dog to help teach me that the world isn’t so scary.

I would do best in a home with only women and/or a home that already has a very friendly dog. It can takes weeks or months for me to be to comfortable around men, but if there is a people-friendly dog in the house, I open up SO much faster.
