Zena's Story

Zena is a very special girl. With that being said, she will not be adopted out as a regular dog.
Zena was on the run for at least a year of her life. Basically, she was living as a feral dog. She was trapped after months of failed attempts and brought here to the shelter. It's taken a lot of work with her. She's never been aggressive, but she didn't want anything to do with anyone for quite some time.
Fast forward to now...you would never know about Zena's past. She's a normal dog who loves everyone, and all the attention you can give her. BUT....
Zena can climb any fence.
She will run away if she ever gets loose.
Zena will have to go to a home that people are with her majority of the day...every day, and if she's left alone, it will have to be a special enclosure. She will have to be supervised. It will take her time to adjust to being in a home, and we want her potential adopter to understand her.
She would do best in a home with another friendly dog...she is happiest with another doggo friend. We've never come across a dog Zena hasn't liked. She is also fine with cats.
She is spayed, up to date on shots, and heartworm tested negative. If you're interested in meeting Zena, please give us a call directly at (989) 343-7387, as this will be a process with her.
Her adoption cost is not our standard. We have raised the price a little to ensure her safety.

-Cats are same day adoptions. -Dogs are NOT same day adoptions. -We require home visits with the dogs. This means you take the dog home for about a week to ensure that dog is a good fit for your life. Adoptions can be finalized after the home visit is complete. We understand some people are not local, and we can work around that to accommodate the needs of all parties involved. -Meet and greets are required for any dog adoptions where there is already a dog in the home. -CAT ADOPTIONS REQUIRE CARRIERS TO LEAVE THE BUILDING! -DOG ADOPTIONS REQUIRE A LEASH TO LEAVE THE BUILDING!
