Zelda (aka Zelle-Zelle, Zelly-Belly, or Zelle's Bells) is a three year old Belgian Malinois who came to CalPaws from Stanislaus Shelter where she was red listed for euthanasia. After CalPaws tagged her and Paws Network Transportation helped move Zelda to her foster in Northern Nevada, she was finally able to start decompressing from the stressful shelter environment and start the next chapter of her life.
Zelda is an absolute love and does great with the other similarly sized dogs in her foster home. It is clear she has had at least one litter of puppies, but she is now spayed and ready to find her perfect home. She is also fantastic with the two children in the home aged 6 and 13, although her foster has definitely been working on her manners with her in terms of eating food that doesn't belong to her. Zelda loves the other dogs but is very much driven by human attention and affection. She is extremely food motivated but does not seem to have any toy drive.
This beautiful girl would do best in a home with children over age 5 and no small animals including small dogs or cats. Zelda has met the goats in her foster home through the fence, and has since made it her life's mission to try to eat them. She has a definite prey drive, and did not test well with the other small animals on the foster farm. A home where she will receive lots of love and attention, along with continued training and socialization, is a must for this girl. Zelda is fully house broken and crate trained.

Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHLPP and Rabies. We deworm and microchip each dog as well as spay or neuter.
Our adoption process includes an initial conversation about the dog to see if the dog is a good match or if another dog could be a more suitable match. We also will complete a home visit. It should be noted that our adoption counselors know the dogs and can best guide any possible adopter with a suitable match.
