Zeek Flat-Coated Retriever & Newfoundland Dog Mix Wynne, AR

Update: 8/27/12 - Zeek is doing well at the shelter, he loves playing with the other dogs and lazing in the kiddie pools. He likes to follow you around the yard, if you stand still for a few minutes he tends to sit on your foot and nudge your hand til you pet him. Very sweet and loving boy, thus far he has kept his kennel very clean at night and is very quiet. He would be a great addition to a laid back family since he doesn't have too much spunk when it comes to activities. He's a couch potatoe and would love nothing more than to just be with his person wherever they may be.


Zeek and his brother Zack were found starving out in the woods. They were taken to a partner shelter and have been there for a few months. They were taken to the vet and tested positive for heartworm, they are currently under treatment and are expected to make a full recovery. Zeek is around 3-4 years old and weights around 50 pounds. He is extremely friendly and loves attention. He is great on a leash and loves to be in the water. He is slightly food possessive and will protect his pen but is easily corrected. He loves children and playing with other dogs. He does okay with cats as long as they don’t take off running, if they do he will chase but will not hurt them. He is very attentive to people when out on a hike his leash was dropped several times but he just stayed close to us, did not run off. His teeth are a little broken off because he likes to chew on hard objects but the vet said it would not cause any issues in the future. Will you be Zeek’s person?
