ZCL-D-Angel's Story
German Shepherd without her personThis listing is a courtesy listing and not affiliated with Desoto Animal Rescue Society. Please contact the current owner below:

My elderly Mom adopted a female German Shepherd shortly after my Dad passed in 2023. My Mom passed unexpectedly last September, her 3yo dog, Angel needed someone to care for her until we could get things sorted out with Mom’s estate. During this time, we thought we would be able to make Angel a permanent part of our family. Things haven’t worked out quite the way we expected though. With a lot of thought and prayer, we’ve decided it would be best for Angel if we could find her a new home. Ideally, she needs a younger handler and a big space where she can readily run off the energy typically observed in German Shepherds. She is OK with younger kids, especially girls. She is does not tolerate boys as well or other animals and passing cars. We’ve been working to correct those behaviors but with our busy household we have found we can not do her due diligence with training. She is a smart dog and has shown that she is willing to learn. On command, she will (sometimes reluctantly) sit, stay, down, shake paws and kennel up. She can be stubborn though and will ignore you unless “treat” is mentioned. Again, diligence and consistency are the biggest factors. She will let you know when she needs to go outside. She usually starts whining and pawing the door between 6:30 to 7 am. Another way she alerts you to her needs is to grab your forearm or bring you any shoe that happens to be available. To an outsider, it may appear to be aggression, but it is truly a playful grab. This routine happens several times daily. She is housebroken! She will be current on shots as she is due to visit the vet for necessary updates. She is chipped. She is also intact, but we can arrange for her to be spayed if that is a requirement for the new owner. We would love for Angel to have a loving home. My mom loved her and she loved my mom. She needs a loving home that can give her the time she deserves and wants. She has supplies that will come with her:Veterinary recordsLarge kennel cageLarge cushionBlanketFood/water bowls2 winter coatsAssorted rubber balls and other toysFur brushIf you are interested in meeting Angel, please let me know.

Jerry Byard
jfbyard@gmail.com
901-413-0141
